ASTM A671 LSAW Pipes Description
A671 straight seam welded pipe is an American standard electric fusion welded steel pipe for normal and low temperatures. The welding process for A671 straight seam welded pipes is simpler than that of spiral welded pipes, with lower welding costs and higher efficiency. The disadvantage is that the weld seam is in a straight line, resulting in lower compressive strength. Therefore, straight seam welding is only suitable for producing small and medium diameter A671 welded pipes.

Production Process of A671 Straight Seam Welded Pipe
1. Steel Plate Inspection: Before the steel plates used to manufacture high-frequency straight seam welded pipes enter the production line, they first undergo a full plate ultrasonic inspection.
2. Cutting: The edges on both sides of the steel plate are milled using an edge milling machine to achieve the required steel plate width, edge parallelism, and groove shape.
3. Pre-bending: The edge of the plate is pre-bent using a pre-bending machine to meet curvature requirements. For thicker plates, a press can be used for pre-bending.
4. Forming: In the forming machine, the pre-bent steel plate is first repeatedly rolled on one half to form a "J" shape, then the same operation is performed on the other half to press it into a "C" shape, and finally, an open "O" shape is formed.
5. Pre-welding: The formed high-frequency straight seam welded pipe is aligned and continuously welded using gas shielded welding.
6. Internal Welding: Longitudinal multi-wire submerged arc welding (up to four wires) is used to weld the inside of the high-frequency straight seam welded pipe.
7. External Welding: Longitudinal multi-wire submerged arc welding is used to weld the outside of the high-frequency straight seam welded pipe.
8. Finishing: The entire welded steel pipe is trimmed to ensure precise dimensions required by the customer and to improve the distribution of internal stress in the steel pipe.
9. Inspection: According to customer requirements, high-frequency straight seam welded pipes undergo ultrasonic testing or X-ray testing, hydrostatic testing, and can also be subjected to anti-corrosion and coating processes.
